Todi‘s programme of holiday events will come to a close with the thrilling arrival of the Befana.
The Epiphany is probably the least cheerful of holidays because, as the famous saying goes, “Epiphany carries away all festivities”.
Nevertheless it is often also the best time to spend a few days out of town or simply visit a place that you have been wanting to see.
For this very reason Todi is yet again the best choice, tourists and visitors will find the town festively decorated also thanks to the “Le luci di Todi/The Lights of Todi” initiative which made the city more magical and charming than ever.
Plus, in celebration of the Epiphany, the event-filled calendar put together by the town’s administration includes the “Gran Concerto dell’Epifania (Great Concert for the Epiphany)” organised by the municipality of Todi and by Agimus, Associazione Giovanile Musicale (Juvenile Music Association) for the evening of January 5th, at the Teatro Comunale.
Before that, on the afternoon of January 5th, at 5:00pm, at the Teatro del Nido dell’Aquila, the “Racconto d’inverno (A Winter’s Tale)” will be held; a puppet show created by the Alloglossoi Teatro with the participation of an actor and a singer.
On the afternoon of January 6th, on the other hand, in Piazza del Popolo, the traditional “Discesa della Befana”, the event of the Befana flying in, will be held.
The show will begin at 5:00pm, organised by the Municipality of Todi and will be made possible by the key collaboration of the Fire Brigade.
The delightful old lady bringing an end to the festivities will fly in, on her broom, from the bell tower of the Duomo, down to the Piazza where she will hand out candies and sweets to all of the children.
Fun is therefore guaranteed for young and old.
This is also the chance to take a last stroll in the marvellous Christmas atmosphere created this year in the centre of town and, for anyone who so wishes, also a bit of a skate around the skating rink set up in the piazza.
