Once again, from 19 to 30 June 2024 the Mercato delle Gaite will be held in Bevagna. Ten days of activities, banquets in full medieval style, markets that re-enact ancient arts and crafts and a great number of artistic and historical shows. Let’s discover the full programme of this amazing event.
The Markets and Taverns
On the days of the Mercato delle Gaite you can stroll through the four ‘gaite’ (districts) to discover medieval crafts. Every day there will also be jesters and jugglers along the streets of Bevagna. On the last weekend of the event the medieval markets will also open their wares. Taverns and inns are set up throughout the village offering typical meals. They are open every evening, as well as for lunch. The complete programme is available on the event’s official website.
The Gaite contests
San Giorgio, San Giovanni, Santa Maria and San Pietro: these are the four ‘Gaite’, the four districts that, every year, involve the population of volunteers behind the Mercato delle Gaite. In addition to animating the event with their initiatives, the Gaite “compete” in three different contests, overseen by an external jury: the Gastronomic Contest, the Crafts Contest and the Market Contest. Who will be the winner?
How to get to Bevagna from Todi
You can get to Bevagna from Todi by taking the state highway SS3 south-east for about 20 kilometres until you get to Bevagna. It is a pleasant drive, that takes about 30 minutes. Thanks to its central position, Todi is the ideal base for visiting the cities and getting to the many summer events that the region of Umbria has to offer every year.
