19.09.2024

Sagrantino Running will be back from 02 to 03 November 2024. From Bevagna to Montefalco, in the province of Perugia, participants will run along the ‘via del Sagrantino’, the Sagrantino route. There are many routes to choose from, both amateur and non-competitive races, many rest places along the way where you can enjoy local food and wine. Let’s check out the routes together and how to partake in Sagrantino Running 2022.

Sagrantino Running: exercise and tourism in a single event

Sagrantino Running was created from the desire to promote exercise as an economic resource and a tool for promoting tourism and the local area. Organised by Athena ASD, with the endorsement of the Umbrian Regional Government, the Municipal Governments of Montefalco and Bevagna and sports and regional organisations, the race is set up to take you through towns, vineyards and the Sagrantino country side.

All of the routes

There are 2 routes for the competitive races, starting and finishing in Montefalco and varying according to the distance and difficulty level based on changes in altitude (D+) :

•  Sagrantino Wine Trail, 22,5 kilometres (D+590)

•  Mevania Wine Trail, 12,5 kilometres, medium (D+ 190)

There are also 2 types of non-competitive routes to choose from based on difficulty and are suitable for everyone, old and young:

  • Sagrantino Young
  • Family & Nordic Walking, 8 km

People who love exploring – and walking – the beauty of the region through typical cuisine, can participate in the 10 kilometre Sagrantino Wine and Food Walk, with various stops at olive mills and vineyards along the circular route.

It is necessary to sign up to participate in any of the activities offered at Sagrantino Running. There are different rules, payment and registration methods for each type of activity. Therefore it is a good idea to check out the official page for detailed information.
